Optician Job DescriptionPurpose: This individual is responsible for daily dispensary operations.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.One to two years' experience as dispensing optician preferred.Duties and Responsibilities:Possesses a wide-range of knowledge applicable to modern optometric care and current trends in eyewear.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to interpret, analyze and fill ophthalmic prescriptions.Responsibilities:Ensure that patients are properly educated regarding their vision prescription and available optionsMaintain emphasis on profitable operations while satisfying patient needs. Maintain appropriate standards of quality, honesty, and patient serviceWork with other departments to ensure comprehensive completion of all operational tasksMaintain up-to-date procedural manuals, as appropriateOrder all products to stock dispensaryComplete all patient orders, including frames, lenses and contact lensesResponsible for returns of defective or unused productsProvide repairs and adjustments for all framesReview jobs for accuracy / check-in lab workComplete nightly depositsResponsible for management and collection of patient ordersMaintain appearance of dispensary and displaysEnsure that all dispensary-related objectives are metTravel:It may be necessary to travel and work in satellite offices. Employees must maintain a valid driver's license and proof of insurancePhysical Capabilities:Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouchingFrequent, prolonged standing/sitting/walkingMust be able to see, hear, and respond adequatelyExtensive computer workFrequent use of telephone and scannerTravel to other offices based on business necessityWorking Environment:Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distractionFrequent exposure to video display terminals
