We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations for a growing commercial general contractor in the Milwaukee market. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing ground-up and renovation commercial construction projects from sitework through owner turnover, with a strong preference for candidates who possess a significant background in concrete construction, self-perform concrete operations, structural concrete, foundations, and heavy sitework.The General Superintendent will oversee multiple project superintendents, field personnel, and subcontractors while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual will serve as a key leadership figure within the operations team and play a critical role in mentoring field staff, driving project execution, and maintaining client satisfaction.Field Leadership & OperationsProvide overall leadership and management of field operations across multiple commercial construction projects.Oversee project superintendents, assistant superintendents, and field staff.Establish and maintain project schedules, sequencing plans, and manpower strategies.Coordinate with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.Ensure seamless project execution from preconstruction through closeout and warranty.Concrete & Sitework OversightLead planning and execution of concrete operations including foundations, slabs, structural concrete, paving, and site concrete.Review concrete means and methods, production schedules, quality control procedures, and workforce planning.Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost performance on concrete-related scopes.Support self-perform operations when applicable.Safety ManagementChampion a strong safety culture across all jobsites.Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific requirements.Conduct regular site visits, safety audits, and corrective action reviews.Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures.Quality ControlMaintain strict quality standards throughout all phases of construction.Conduct site inspections and verify work conforms to contract documents, specifications, and industry standards.Ensure punch list completion and successful project turnover.Scheduling & ProductionCollaborate with project teams to develop and maintain master project schedules.Identify potential delays and implement recovery plans.Monitor productivity, sequencing, logistics, and workforce utilization.Drive accountability among subcontractors and field teams.Team DevelopmentMentor and develop project superintendents and emerging field leaders.Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and performance management of field personnel.Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.Required10+ years of commercial construction experience with increasing leadership responsibility.5+ years in a Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or General Superintendent role.Demonstrated experience managing projects from site preparation through final closeout.Strong background in commercial construction including:Ground-up projectsStructural concreteFoundations and siteworkBuilding envelope systemsInterior buildout and finishesAbility to manage multiple projects and field teams simultaneously.Strong understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, and coordination.Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools.Valid driver's license and ability to travel to jobsites throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.PreferredExtensive concrete construction experience, including self-perform concrete operations.Experience with projects ranging from $10M to $100M+.OSHA 30 Certification.Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.Experience in healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, education, multifamily, or large commercial projects.Desired AttributesStrong field leader with a "builder's mentality."Excellent communicator who can effectively manage owners, subcontractors, and project teams.Hands-on problem solver with strong decision-making abilities.Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.Passionate about mentoring and developing future construction leaders.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary (commensurate with experience)Annual performance bonusVehicle allowance or company vehicleHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysProfessional development and advancement opportunitiesIdeal Candidate ProfileA seasoned commercial construction professional who has risen through the field ranks, preferably beginning in concrete construction, and has successfully led large-scale projects from excavation and foundations through final turnover.
